Beautiful Artisan Devon Ice Cream

Here at the Dartmoor Ice Cream Co we are passionate about creating the nearest thing to proper home-made ice cream. Making in small batches, we keep, as much as possible, to ingredients you would find in your larder, while not compromising on quality.

Award Winning Flavours

We are extremely proud to have been awarded a range of SILVER, GOLD and PLATINUM awards for our ice creams and sorbets over the past two years. We have achieved awards from both 'Taste of The West' and 'Food Drink Devon'.

We are passionate about the local produce we use and feel these awards have helped focus some well earned attention on the 'quality produce' on Dartmoor that allows us to produce consistently high quality products.

    ABOUT US

    Sue and Carol were teachers who first met at a church in South East London. Soon after, Sue became Carol’s landlady and they shared a small flat. 

    Carol - “Sue ate everything I left in the fridge." 
    Sue - “Carol convinced me to buy a house rabbit, which proceeded to leave droppings on the carpet."

    ... amazingly, their friendship survives.
    They both married lovely chaps in 2000 and, eventually, all ended up living in West Devon. Carol has three “lively” boys and Sue has two, almost perfect, children.

    Carol was born and bred in West Devon. Her childhood was spent on the edge of Dartmoor, keeping and smelling of horses most of the time.

    Sue moved here in 2007, having lived on the North Coast of Cornwall for several years. She has come to love the South West and its fabulous landscape.

    Our Ethos
    Quality, Excellence & Passion

    Here at the Dartmoor Ice Cream Company, we share a passion for Dartmoor and ice cream and we want our customers to enjoy a taste of the Devon landscape with every spoonful. 


    We use real cream in all our recipes and gallons of lovely fresh milk from cows that graze on the foothills of Dartmoor.  


    In addition, many of our ice creams are made even more delicious by the addition of chunks and sauces, which are lovingly made by us. All our flavourings are natural, and our fruit ice creams are flavoured by real fruit pieces.   


    Events

    The Dartmoor Ice cream company sells its lovely ice cream at events all over Devon and into Cornwall. We take our beautiful horse box to bigger events but we also have a mobile freezer for smaller spaces and indoors. 


    In winter we will be selling delicious bubble waffles. If you see us, come and try our fabulous waffle sundaes!

    As well as our ice creams and sorbets we make seasonal products for events that are designed to expand our range and offer a taste of Dartmoor for all events.

    With quality ingredients at the heart of our production we aim to achieve the best possible value whilst still delivering the best possible taste.

    Our Products & Packaging

    When designing our products we follow a strict path to quality and richness, which is also applied to the design of our packaging.

    Our Brand

    Reflecting the beauty of the moor where our ice cream is made, our brand illustrates the colourful diversity that can be found on Dartmoor. 


    We love animals, so it is important to us to reflect this in our connection with Dartmoor, choosing significant animals, particularly the native Dartmoor pony to identify with on our tubs. Working closely with Matt Buckett form Ink Pot Graphics we have produced a range of art tubs that illustrate our love of  Dartmoor.

    Recyclable Packaging

    Living and working in such a beautiful part of the country has rubbed off on us and we feel strongly that we need to help the environment wherever we can. 

    With this in mind we have used tubs that are 100% recyclable.

    Beautiful Devon

    Our products are designed to speak to you of the moor, of quality and of luxury. We see the beautiful landscape of Dartmoor change throughout the seasons with vast depth and variety, and we use this as inspiration for our products.
